Frequently Asked Questions
Google requires new personal developer accounts to run a closed test with at least 20 testers who stay opted-in for the last 14 consecutive days before the app can move to production. This platform exists so developers can help each other meet that requirement honestly.
Each verified test day earns you +1 point, and an accepted bug report can earn a bonus point. Points mature from "pending" to "available" on your next check-in. When you publish an app, each tester slot costs 1 available point. Points have no monetary value and can never be bought or cashed out.
The timer proves you actually opened the app instead of just claiming you did. The countdown is enforced by the server clock, so closing the app early resets it. After 60 seconds you unlock the verification question, which you answer from what you genuinely saw inside the app.
Your app enters a short review by our moderators. Once approved, it appears in the community feed and testers can join your closed test. Remember to add the community Google Group email to your Play Console closed-testing track, otherwise testers cannot download your app.
If you miss check-ins for longer than the inactivity window (48 hours by default), your test is marked abandoned and the slot goes back to the community. You can restart from Day 1 any time with the "Restart Day 1" button on the queue card — your previous progress on that app does not carry over.
Use the "Report Fake Bug" button next to the report. Moderators review the case with the tester's trust history in front of them. Confirmed fake reports cost the reporter points and may block their bug-bonus privilege.
